Google for nonprfits

IT Assistance for Charities and Non-Profits

Are you involved with or work for a charitable organisation? As a result of my work with Remus Horse Sanctuary, I was recently referred to Google for Non-Profits. I have been looking to move Remus’ emails in order to save them money (currently they use Rackspace) and I’ve been researching cheaper alternatives that could still meet their requirements.

The Google for Non-Profits scheme is intended to help non-profits and charities throughout the world with free access to Google tools such as Gmail, Google Calendar, Google Ad Grants and many more applications. These tools will reduce IT costs, help reach new donors and volunteers, help the team work more efficiently and tell the charity’s story.

Google for Non-Profits doesn’t appear to be a widely known service, but recognising the huge and varied benefits, I want to help spread the word!

I won’t pretend it’s easy to set up. Naturally, there are a number of hoops to jump through and, a week on, I’m still to’ing and fro’ing with the Ad Grants application. However, it’s such a superb offering that it’s certainly well worth the effort for Remus.

I should also point out that not all non-profit and charities are eligible, including Governmental entities, hospitals and healthcare organisations, childcare centres and schools etc. If you follow the link below for ‘Join the Programme’ you’ll be able to check if your organisation is eligible. There is a separate programme for education, which you can find out more on here.
