Living Magazines

Alison Page Marketing took on Berkhamsted Living and Tring Living Community Magazines in April 2018.

The much-loved and respected Tring Living and Berkhamsted Living magazines passed into new hands from that year’s summer issues. Alison Page of Alison Page Marketing (APM) took over the reins of these quarterly publications from founder Sandra Boothroyd-Todd and editorial director David Guest.

A chance conversation at Christmas with long-standing friends Sandra and David about their plans for 2018 resulted in Alison signing contracts in March 2018 to become the new owner and Publishing Director of both magazines along with the bi-annual ‘School Report’.

“Sandra and David have done a lot of work on behalf of Berkhamsted and Tring, and I’m thrilled to be taking on their mantle as I’ve always loved reading the magazines,” said Alison. “Having also known and worked with the team for many of my marketing consultancy clients over the years, I jumped at the opportunity to add a publishing arm to my business. It’s a new challenge and I’m going to relish working with the many local community groups and businesses that make the magazines so welcomed when they drop through the door.”

She continued: “Sandra and David have done a remarkable job creating two magazines which regularly inspire readers to take the time to tell them what a good job they are doing. I’m brimming with ideas for the magazines both in print and online to continue to deliver to residents and businesses in both communities not only a good read but also a source of information for things to buy, do and try each season.”

Alison Reid-Davies of Home & Colonial in Berkhamsted said: “When we put out copies of the Living magazines in store, they disappear the same day which tells us that our shoppers like and trust the publications. From a business point of view, our partnership with the magazines is successful, as well as enjoyable, and we also love reading the interesting topics covered each season.”

Sandra added: “I had the idea for a local quarterly magazine for Berkhamsted 17 years ago. It was only meant to be a small project, but I hoped it would be an asset for the town and something I would enjoy receiving myself. It grew into something much bigger than I had envisaged with the launch of the Tring Living edition and both publications have gained amazing credibility among readers and advertisers.

APM takes on Living Magazines

“I must take this opportunity to thank all the advertisers who have supported us over the years,” Sandra added. “I wish them all the best for the future and I hope they will continue to support the magazines as Alison takes them forward.

“Over the years, I have met and worked with so many lovely local people, many of whom have become firm, lifelong friends. There have been so many highlights: winning the Business of the Year award, attending the Queen’s garden party at Buckingham Palace for our contribution to life in Tring, being part of great local events, working with local organisations and helping to promote the towns we serve.”

Dr Edward Masheder of Bowhouse Dental Practice explained: “Our partnership with both Living magazines has contributed significantly to our practice’s success as it has really helped us connect and build trust with local residents.”

David Guest concluded: “It has always been gratifying to hear the generous reactions of people to the magazines. They look forward to each new issue. One person told us her decision to move house to Berkhamsted was influenced by the fact that the town had such a lovely local magazine. We are sure the magazines are in good hands with Alison, and we hope she gets as much pleasure from producing them as we have done these past 17 years.”
